SEPTEMBER 21st 2013 Big Dig Saturday 12 – 5pm

We’ll be open for volunteers and visitors. We’ll be celebrating our fruit trees – perhaps tasting the first fruit since they were planted in March 2012, and certainly discussing apple-based recipes. We’ll also be looking at herb growing: doing maintenance on our public herb planters and propagating what we can. There will be herb posies (or bouquets garnis for the culinary inclined) to take away. Do come along and join us.

JUNE 29th 2013 Open Garden for Sussex Beacon

We had around 45 visitors on a beautiful Saturday in June. Lots of families – and our mini watering can came into its own. We discussed all kinds of horticultural queries, reviewed types of beans and how to get free scaffolding planks, and had our mini-orchard with its ornamental garland of sweet peas much admired. Part of a really successful fund-raising event for The Sussex Beacon.

APRIL 14th 2013 Seed Sowing Sunday

2013-04-14-627 2013-04-14-631Over 30 people came along to our Seed Sowing Sunday. It was warm, it didn’t rain. It was great to see lots of kids eager to plant seeds.

We planted: lettuces and salad leaves of various kinds, pak choi, mustard, sage, coriander, raddishes. People took 7cm pots of planted seeds away, and helped us plant up trays.
